Gunwalker Update: Mexico Cartel Enforcer Armed by ATF, Obama Defends Eric Holder, NPR Spreads Propaganda Lying about Fast & Furious

High-powered assault weapons illegally purchased under the ATF’s Fast and Furious program in Phoenix ended up in a home belonging to the purported top Sinaloa cartel enforcer in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, whose organization was terrorizing that city with the worst violence in the Mexican drug wars.

In all, 100 assault weapons acquired under Fast and Furious were transported 350 miles from Phoenix to El Paso, making that West Texas city a central hub for gun traffickers. Forty of the weapons made it across the border and into the arsenal of Jose Antonio Torres Marrufo, a feared cartel leader in Ciudad Juarez, according to federal court records and trace documents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Meanwhile, in DC:

President Obama insists neither he nor Atty. Gen. Eric H. Holder Jr. knew federal ATF agents were permitting illegal gun purchases on the Southwest border, even as Republican lawmakers released new documents showing the attorney general was given general briefings on the Fast and Furious gun-tracking operation.

“He’s indicated that he was not aware of what was happening in Fast and Furious,” the president said in support of Holder, speaking at a White House news conference Thursday. “Certainly I was not. And I think both he and I would have been very unhappy if somebody had suggested that guns were allowed to pass through that could have been prevented by the United States of America.”

Oh, I’m sure you’re unhappy, Barry.  I’m sure the reaction was just like this:

John Dodson, Vince Celafu, Darren Gil, former ATF Director Ken Melson, Olindo Casa, Lawrence Alt and Peter Forcelli haven’t merely suggested it, but have stated it.  Even ATF Phoenix SAC William “Gunwalker Bill” Newell admitted to it, though his testimony was rife with Clintonian dodges.

Obama praised Holder. “He has been very aggressive in going after gun-running and cash transactions that are going to these transnational drug cartels in Mexico,” the president said.

The goals behind Fast and Furious may be the only thing not in dispute. Law enforcement officials wanted to target big Mexican drug cartels that use U.S. weapons to fuel violence along the Southwest border. Agents at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives conducted surveillance at gun dealerships in Arizona, watching as suspicious people purchased large numbers of firearms. They intended to follow those weapons south, but agents in some cases lost track of the firearms. Some of the weapons later turned up near the body of U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry, killed in a gunfight last December in Arizona.

The goals behind Fast and Furious aren’t in dispute among those who’ve been following the story, or who aren’t lying for the Obama administration.  The ATF, acting on orders from DC, wanted to target American gun owners by trying to make the already disproved 90% lie a reality.  Agents at the ATF told gun dealers to go ahead with sales to straw purchasers, even going so far as to work with the FBI to get felons to pass NICS background checks.  The ATF did not intend to follow those weapons south, and agents were ordered to let the guns go.
