(CBS News) CBS News has learned the House Oversight Committee will vote next week on whether to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress. It’s the fourth time in 30 years that Congress has launched a contempt action against an executive branch member.
This time, the dispute stems from Holder failing to turn over documents subpoenaed on October 12, 2011 in the Fast and Furious “gunwalking” investigation.
The Justice Department has maintained it has cooperated fully with the congressional investigation, turning over tens of thousands of documents and having Holder testify to Congress on the topic at least eight times.
Yup. Justice turned over all kinds of info – page after page like this:
CBS also pats themselves on the back for work that they didn’t have to do, since it was handed to them by David Codrea and Mike Vanderboegh, but anyone who’s ever talked to a reporter learns that they’re always less important than the reporter. It may piss them off, and righteously so, but that’s how the media is, sadly.
Issa is aiming at Wednesday, June 20th as the day for the vote
That’ll be nice to see, but we already know it’s going to be a party line thing, with dirtbags like Cummings yammering on about what a good man Holder is and how racist and evil the Republicans are for wanting to take Holder to task for killing hundreds of Mexicans and a couple US federal agents.
Democrats on the House Oversight Committee have called the Republicans’ move to find Holder in contempt a politically-motivated “witch hunt.”
Holder’s part of a criminal conspiracy to cover up the actions of the ATF that directly sent guns to Mexico, using taxpayer dollars to pay for them, violating federal law by giving guns to felons, involving the FBI as well when they let felons pass NICS checks, the expressed intent was to find guns at Mexican murder scenes to prove they went south, and to use that as evidence for more gun control and regulation in the US. We’ve covered it ad nauseum here, it’s all well-known among people who’ve bothered to read about it, and the Democrats are covering for their guy because Cummings and the other worthless Democrat politicians are more concerned with their political careers and anti-gun agendas than they are with hundreds of murders. Like ATF Supervisor David Voth said about the deaths of US law enforcement as a result of the ATF’s plan: “If you want to make an omelette, you’ve got to scramble some eggs.”
