I guess some of their remote terror operatives haven’t gotten word that they stopped using ISIS and went just to Islamic State… or Caliphate.

On Twitter.  Via Legal Insurrection:

And just so there’s also a high road response:

“Tax to live” works as well.  Frankly, it’s the kind of smugness to be expected from this White House that smuggles guns to narcoterrorist cartels to undermine the Second Amendment, leaves our ambassadors to die and blames it on the First Amendment, targets citizens with different opinions with the IRS, and targets reporters who aren’t quite being the perfect Obama-propagandists with wiretaps.  Hence why the low road response comes first.  They’ve earned it.

There were several really good tweets by a host of folks who find this insulting and demeaning, if not tyrannical:

Drudge’s headline all day, from AP:

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Internal Revenue Service apologized Friday for what it acknowledged was “inappropriate” targeting of conservative political groups during the 2012 election to see if they were violating their tax-exempt status.

IRS agents singled out dozens of organizations for additional reviews because they included the words “tea party” or “patriot” in their exemption applications, said Lois Lerner, who heads the IRS division that oversees tax-exempt groups. In some cases, groups were asked for lists of donors, which violates IRS policy in most cases, she said.

Spin begins on the next paragraph:

The agency — led at the time by a Bush administration appointee — blamed low-level employees, saying no high-level officials were aware. But that wasn’t good enough for Republicans in Congress, who are conducting several investigations and asked for more.

Blame Bush, and blame the low-level people, who apparently just off and do this stuff on their own.  Just like how Fast and Furious was really just done by a couple guys in the field and totally wasn’t so connected to the White House so Obama had to invoke executive privilege to cover his own corrupt ass.  Oh, wait… that’s right.

White House spokesman Jay Carney declared it was indeed inappropriate for the IRS to target tea party groups. But he brushed aside questions about whether the White House itself would investigate.

Why investigate it?  They agree with it.

The big question is: why is the IRS apologizing?

They must’ve gotten caught, and there must’ve been something about to break.  They also timed this release on a Friday – when the White House does its traditional document dumps, because normal folks who go and do normal things on the weekends aren’t around to pay attention to this stuff.  They don’t listen to Rush in the afternoon on weekends, they don’t sit down to Hannity on Saturday evening – they’ve got better things to do like go to the lake and go fishing or go out clubbing or hang out with their kids.

This is an apology sent out for something that’s horribly, offensively partisan – the IRS targeted enemies of the White House – and this was released on a day when the news from it can’t gather steam.  It’s also released as the mainstream media is actually beginning to wonder what’s going on with Benghazi (which they hushed up last year so Obama could be reelected).

HotAir is all over this.

They’ve even got some of the questions that were asked by the IRS:

The White House is asking people to support their call for greater government power via a massive anti-gun twitterbomb.

The White House is using a third-party system called “Thunderclap“. Thunderclap is a system by which people log in with a Twitter or FB account, then decide to share a message, and the system holds their message until a threshold is met.

When the threshold is met, all of their messages are sent at once, creating a “thunderclap” twitterbomb that dominates discussion by effectively generating an artificial viral meme.  It’s very collectivist, and quite sinister to see the White House orchestrating and agitating for greater government power by becoming the puppeteers of an engineered outcry.

With the “now is the time” demands, the White House site is somewhat ominous:

now is the time white house antigun twitterbomb

And there’s this, showing their expected “social reach” and the extent to which the White House intends to project its online propagandist neo-“Four-Minute Men“:

now is the time white house antigun twitterbomb 2

From the Thunderclap site:

Update: There is now a pro-Second Amendment Thunderclap being organized for those who wish to counterprotest.

There are some who resist.  From Redditor roadkill6:

Here is the link to the whitehouse.gov page about it. When they get to a social-reach of ~24 million people, they will post the following statement through the Facebook and Twitter accounts of everyone who signed up:

“I support common-sense steps to reduce gun violence. #NowIsTheTime to act. Share this if you agree:”

I think we should come up with our own hashtag and message and set up a similar system. What do you think?

EDIT: Having a webpage where people can sign up to be part of a Twitter/Facebook bomb like the one at whitehouse.gov would be really nice. Any suggestions?

UPDATE: You can follow the #NowIsTheTime hashtag here. Thanks to /u/Bartman383 for the link in the comments.

UPDATE: /u/Gunrightprotector has created www.nowisthetime.co and is waiting for approval of a Thunderclap-based Twitter-bomb. I have contacted the NRA-ILA, the Second Amendment Foundation, and Gun Owners of America, so hopefully I will hear back from them soon.

#NowIsTheTime for Americans to tell Congress what they really think about “common sense” civilian disarmament.

There are a few others who resist.

Today, the White House released this picture of Obama, who doesn’t wear a shell bag when he shoots clays, and looks about as comfortable holding a gun as he would holding a rabid wolverine.

obama shotgun picture

Apparently he shot during the “President’s Cup” and ran away like the hoplophobe non-man he is:

“The only time he shot skeet was for President’s Cup,” said the source, referring to a shooting competition tradition involving the presidential Marine guards. “I was there. He stayed for about five minutes, and couldn’t leave fast enough.”

Skeet shooting “is very hard,” said the source. “Especially for someone not used to guns … He couldn’t have been more uncomfortable.”

Obama hates guns.  It’s a major part of his leftist ideology, and as far back as his public record goes, he’s been on the record, even so far as in his own handwriting, going after guns.  He loathes gun owners and despises them as aliens who resist his progressive march to the future.  Bitter clingers are counterrevolutionaries in his utopian world.  The photo is a transparent “but look, I’m one of you, I like guns”, propaganda move that will fool no one.  But we’ve already covered his hatred of armed citizens at length – let’s get on to his resurgent hatred of the First Amendment:

This official White House photograph is being made available only for publication by news organizations and/or for personal use printing by the subject(s) of the photograph. The photograph may not be manipulated in any way and may not be used in commercial or political materials, advertisements, emails, products, promotions that in any way suggests approval or endorsement of the President, the First Family, or the White House.

Update 2: This sure looks funny.  Could be bogus, could allow for plenty of time for a photo op and be legit, but let’s call this “skeetgate”, shall we?

Update 3: How they did it!

skeet obama 20 greenscreen

The trees behind him at Camp David are in the north annex near building 7 and for the last decade have been suffering a severe drought.  The trees should all have dead leaves.  As well, the eye protection he’s wearing is of no known manufacturer.  The ported shotgun he’s shooting clearly shows signs of having been adjusted and may well be a modified barrel, which would be consistent with the kind of controlled detonation of the pre-planted cartridge they’d need for the photo op.

(Gee, should I lay it on thicker?)

Face it, leftists – the man hates guns.  If he’s shot for anything more than the President’s Cup – that he ran away from – he’s not only a novice, but a crappy novice.  He didn’t seat the shotgun in his shoulder well, and he’s shooting almost level with the ground.  At best, it means he’s incompetent and shooting at a bird on the way down (even folks with a downrange area in a hole shoot higher up).  At worst, it really was just a photo op where he walked out the back door and cranked off one shell so that he could do a quick impersonation of Jon Lovitz’ liar character from Saturday Night Live when asked about guns.  “Yeah, I shoot skeet all the time… that’s the ticket!

This is somewhat along the lines of him mispronouncing corpsman.  Not only is he ignorant, but everyone around him is ignorant as well.  He knows nothing about shooting, just like he knows nothing about the military and many other aspects of American life, and has contempt for all of it.  It’s unsurprising.

NY Post hits the nail on the head several times:

…if the move was aimed to win over gun enthusiasts, it backfired.

“That looks pretty pathetic. That’s not skeet shooting,” chuckled Rick Davenport, of the Erie County Sportsmen’s Federation.

In the photo, Obama is shooting straight ahead.

“In skeet shooting, you’re either shooting high or you’re shooting low! This is nothing but pandering to the sportsmen and hunters,” Davenport said.

New York Rifle and Pistol Association President Tom King said Obama’s 12-gauge Browning Citori shotgun must have jammed because gun owners will see right through the p.r. offensive.

“We’ve seen this p.r. stunt before. This is what all the gun banners try to do. They try to ingratiate themselves with us,” King said.

“You really think this photo is going to make us think Obama is a pro-gun friend of the Second Amendment?” King said, laughing. “Go figure.”

Rick McDermott, an upstate gun-rights activist, said Obama is shooting blanks.

“This is all political posturing. It’s a PR stunt to show that Obama feels our pain. The Second Amendment has nothing to do with skeet shooting.”

Even a Democrat or two gets it:

“Being dogmatic on guns doesn’t seem to work, although pretending to shoot doesn’t work, either,” said a Democratic source who requested anonymity for fear of upsetting the White House.

Not only do they get the effects, but everyone understands that it’s just a transparent photo op that demonstrates Obama knows nothing about the people he wants to disarm.  The White House staff that mocks people who criticize the president (skeet birthers or something) shows them to be so incredibly thin-skinned that it’s pathetic.

Update 4: They mad.

From the Washington Post.

WASHINGTON, DC - NOVEMBER 08: U.S. Attorney G...

WASHINGTON, DC – NOVEMBER 08: U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder arrives at the witness table to testify during a Senate Judiciary Committee Hearing about the controversial the ‘Operation Fast and Furious’ gun running program on Capitol Hill, on November 8, 2011 in Washington, DC. ‘Operation Fast and Furious’ was set up to be a sting set up by the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives that allowed weapons to be purchased from Arizona gun shops by Mexican drug cartels to trace cross boarder gun trafficking. (Image credit: Getty Images via @daylife)

So it appears things are coming to a head over Fast and Furious on Capitol Hill. About an hour ago the Washington Post breaks the news that the Justice Department has made an announcement that the Obama Administration has claimed executive privilege concerning Operation Fast and Furious. This means that the Obama Administration, Department of Justice included, will no longer turn over ANY information to the Congress Richard Nixon style.

This is a huge development in this case, this opens the door to asking questions about how much the President knew and when he knew it. Then when you look at the President’s comments to anti-gun activist Sarah Brady one is able to make a rational connection and identify the Obama master plan which is rule by executive fiat (or executive orders if you must):

“I just want you to know that we are working on it….We have to go through a few processes, but under the radar.”

It is pure speculation on my part that his statements could be connected to his direct knowledge of Fast and Furious. Having said that I do believe somethings are what they look like. If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, it’s properly safe to say one is looking at a duck to put it simply. The only problem facing the Obama Administration now is that both Fast and Furious and the President’s possible knowledge thereof is no longer, “under the radar.”

Over the weekend, Congressman Jason Chaffetz of the House Oversight and Reform Committee was on FOX discussing how White House national security advisor Kevin O’Reilly has been made unavailable.  O’Reilly is Newell’s buddy (a review of the players here), who were exchanging emails back and forth, and is one of the big known connections to the White House.  When Oversight & Reform started asking about this months and months ago, O’Reilly was conveniently detailed to Iraq and sent away, out of the reach of Congress.  This is ongoing, and has been ongoing for months.

Mike Vanderboegh over at Sipsey Street Irregulars, who along with David Codrea at Examiner broke Fast & Furious, has been fuming about this for months – because apparently the White House stonewalling is working, and how Congress won’t hold Eric Holder and the White House in contempt.

Vanderboegh hit this with a post yesterday, as the White House invoked executive priviledge to keep O’Reilly from speaking to Congress.

This is one of the reasons for fewer posts here and elsewhere, and why the ATF’s gunwalking in Fast and Furious has dropped out of sight – because the stonewalling is working, and Congress won’t take the next steps of contempt hearings.  They’re afraid of politics and “optics” of doing their damned jobs.  There’s no new info coming out because the White House’s tactic is working.

Sharyl Attkisson, pretty much the only non-FOX reporter who’s been on the Gunwalker/Fast & Furious story, ended up getting an earful from the Obama administration.  Probably because CBS actually let her put something on the air about Holder’s lies.

CBS News investigative journalist Sharyl Attkisson — who’s been covering the scandal from the beginning — says in an interview on the Laura Ingraham Show today that the White House and Justice Department have taken to screaming at her for reporting on the story.

Sharyl Attkisson hasn’t been covering it from the beginning.  David Codrea and Mike Vanderboegh have been covering it from the beginning.  Ms. Attkisson may have been the first mainstream media reporter to get in on it, but citizen journalists have been on this from December 2010.  Ms. Attkisson’s efforts have been laudable, especially in light of her having to fight the entire media establishment that’s busy deifying Obama, but she was a couple months late getting in.  Good job, Ms. Attkisson, I’ll stop splitting hairs now.

Ingraham: So they were literally screaming at you?
Attkisson: Yes. Well the DOJ woman was just yelling at me. The guy from the White House on Friday night literally screamed at me and cussed at me. [Laura: Who was the person? Who was the person at Justice screaming?] Eric Schultz. Oh, the person screaming was [DOJ spokeswoman] Tracy Schmaler, she was yelling not screaming. And the person who screamed at me was Eric Schultz at the White House.”

This isn’t really much of a surprise.  The leftist world is composed of angry children, based in a philosophy that comes from feeling and not from reason, no matter how much they like twisting the word to their meaning.

[The White House and Justice Department] will tell you that I’m the only reporter–as they told me–that is not reasonable. They say the Washington Post is reasonable, the LA Times is reasonable, the New York Times is reasonable, I’m the only one who thinks this is a story, and they think I’m unfair and biased by pursuing it.

See, to the left, “reason” equals “compliance and submission”.  The Washington Post, the LA Times, the NY Times are “reasonable” because they do what Obama says.  Those who fall out of line are “unreasonable”, then demonized as right wing racist homophobe lunatics, marginalized and ridiculed.  “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it and polarize it.” – Saul Alinsky

From Laura Ingraham’s show, audio of the interview (quotes about screaming are around 5:45-6:45):

HotAir has a piece on this as well.

Rush Limbaugh did a big piece on this: Another Random Act of Journalism? Media Goes After Fast & Furious.

The documents came from the head of the National Drug Intelligence Center and Assistant Attorney General Lanny Breuer, Justice Department has publicly tried to distance itself from Fast and Furious but the new documents –” this is the CBS report “– the new documents leave no doubt that high level Justice officials knew guns were being ‘walked,'” into Mexico. “Two Justice Department officials mulled it over in an email exchange Oct. 18, 2010. ‘It’s a tricky case given the number of guns that have walked but is a significant set of prosecutions,’ says Jason Weinstein, Deputy Assistant Attorney General of the Criminal Division. Deputy Chief of the National Gang Unit James Trusty replies ‘I’m not sure how much grief we get for “guns walking.” It may be more like, “Finally they’re going after people who sent guns down there.”‘” Except the ATF are the people that sent the guns down there.

But this, once again, shows exactly why they were doing this, folks. This whole plan was a way to try to fix the blame for the violence in Mexico on American gun dealers. It was a backdoor way to curtail the Second Amendment. There is no question in my mind that that’s what Fast and Furious was all about again. Get American guns, guns from American gun stores in the hands of Mexican drug cartels who would then use them in marauders and massacres and murders, other acts of violence. The regime could act outraged and shocked when this was learned, “Oh, my God who are these vicious gun dealers? How did this happen? This proves that we have got to have more gun control,” blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. That’s the purpose, but the whole story has been blown now. And what do you think about CBS and the Los Angeles Times both running stories today on Holder apparently not telling the truth.

No, the political kind.  The kind discussed here on The Patriot Perspective in the past by JBH.

Via the Blaze, with all the legwork done by Judicial Watch:

In a bombshell accusation, the government watchdog group Judicial Watch announced today that the Obama administration used taxpayer money to help orchestrate an internet search engine manipulation campaign specifically promoting Obamacare.

Judicial Watch obtained 2,328 pages of records pursuant to a March 23, 2011, Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit. The FOIA information included correspondence between the Department of Health and Human Services and the Ogilvy Group, the public relations fire hired by the White House to push Obamacare on the American people.

The Blaze has several highlight points from the report.

Or directly from Judicial Watch:

The Obama HHS launched a campaign to track Internet searches and to use online search engines such as Google and Yahoo to drive traffic to a government website promoting Obama’s healthcare overhaul. Using “pay-per-click” advertising tools, such as Google Adwords, HHS purposely targeted for influence people searching the term “Obamacare,” a word that has been described as “disparaging” by political agents of the president.

According to a budget summary prepared by Ogilvy, from October 2010 through February 2011, the Obama administration spent $1,435,009 on these online advertisements alone, including advertising campaigns with Google and Yahoo, almost $300,000 per month.

In previous documents uncovered by Judicial Watch, HHS describes in detail the key to success of the propaganda campaign in a “Statement of Work” accompanying the agency’s Acquisition Plan: “Health and program-related messages are processed by the target audience according to a particular reality, which he or she experiences. Attitudes, feelings, values, needs, desires, behaviors and beliefs all play a part in the individual’s decision to accept information and make a behavioral change.” [Emphasis added.] These documents suggest the total cost of the Obamacare propaganda campaign could reach as much as $200 million.

Nudge.  The snake Cass Sunstein’s work.  “Choice architecture”.  “Make a behavioral change.”

This is not the province of government.  It is the province of the Ruling Class, but we Country Class folks don’t take kindly to overlords in gummint.

More highlights from yesterday’s hearings:

Around the 4 minute mark, SAC Newell is asked about Kevin O’Reilly, a friend of his works in the White House.

Sipsey Street Irregulars has emails on this, as well as some more info on O’Reilly.
