Gunwalker Update: White House Yelling at CBS Reporter; Rush on “Random Act of Journalism”

Sharyl Attkisson, pretty much the only non-FOX reporter who’s been on the Gunwalker/Fast & Furious story, ended up getting an earful from the Obama administration.  Probably because CBS actually let her put something on the air about Holder’s lies.

CBS News investigative journalist Sharyl Attkisson — who’s been covering the scandal from the beginning — says in an interview on the Laura Ingraham Show today that the White House and Justice Department have taken to screaming at her for reporting on the story.

Sharyl Attkisson hasn’t been covering it from the beginning.  David Codrea and Mike Vanderboegh have been covering it from the beginning.  Ms. Attkisson may have been the first mainstream media reporter to get in on it, but citizen journalists have been on this from December 2010.  Ms. Attkisson’s efforts have been laudable, especially in light of her having to fight the entire media establishment that’s busy deifying Obama, but she was a couple months late getting in.  Good job, Ms. Attkisson, I’ll stop splitting hairs now.

Ingraham: So they were literally screaming at you?
Attkisson: Yes. Well the DOJ woman was just yelling at me. The guy from the White House on Friday night literally screamed at me and cussed at me. [Laura: Who was the person? Who was the person at Justice screaming?] Eric Schultz. Oh, the person screaming was [DOJ spokeswoman] Tracy Schmaler, she was yelling not screaming. And the person who screamed at me was Eric Schultz at the White House.”

This isn’t really much of a surprise.  The leftist world is composed of angry children, based in a philosophy that comes from feeling and not from reason, no matter how much they like twisting the word to their meaning.

[The White House and Justice Department] will tell you that I’m the only reporter–as they told me–that is not reasonable. They say the Washington Post is reasonable, the LA Times is reasonable, the New York Times is reasonable, I’m the only one who thinks this is a story, and they think I’m unfair and biased by pursuing it.

See, to the left, “reason” equals “compliance and submission”.  The Washington Post, the LA Times, the NY Times are “reasonable” because they do what Obama says.  Those who fall out of line are “unreasonable”, then demonized as right wing racist homophobe lunatics, marginalized and ridiculed.  “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it and polarize it.” – Saul Alinsky

From Laura Ingraham’s show, audio of the interview (quotes about screaming are around 5:45-6:45):

HotAir has a piece on this as well.

Rush Limbaugh did a big piece on this: Another Random Act of Journalism? Media Goes After Fast & Furious.

The documents came from the head of the National Drug Intelligence Center and Assistant Attorney General Lanny Breuer, Justice Department has publicly tried to distance itself from Fast and Furious but the new documents –” this is the CBS report “– the new documents leave no doubt that high level Justice officials knew guns were being ‘walked,'” into Mexico. “Two Justice Department officials mulled it over in an email exchange Oct. 18, 2010. ‘It’s a tricky case given the number of guns that have walked but is a significant set of prosecutions,’ says Jason Weinstein, Deputy Assistant Attorney General of the Criminal Division. Deputy Chief of the National Gang Unit James Trusty replies ‘I’m not sure how much grief we get for “guns walking.” It may be more like, “Finally they’re going after people who sent guns down there.”‘” Except the ATF are the people that sent the guns down there.

But this, once again, shows exactly why they were doing this, folks. This whole plan was a way to try to fix the blame for the violence in Mexico on American gun dealers. It was a backdoor way to curtail the Second Amendment. There is no question in my mind that that’s what Fast and Furious was all about again. Get American guns, guns from American gun stores in the hands of Mexican drug cartels who would then use them in marauders and massacres and murders, other acts of violence. The regime could act outraged and shocked when this was learned, “Oh, my God who are these vicious gun dealers? How did this happen? This proves that we have got to have more gun control,” blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. That’s the purpose, but the whole story has been blown now. And what do you think about CBS and the Los Angeles Times both running stories today on Holder apparently not telling the truth.
